Very strange apathetic behavior of cumulative TICK yesterday and today. It seems that HFT programs are very muted since the start of yesterday’s 3:00 pm rumor bounce. They have not been very active in today’s opex strength. I may be wrong, but I feel that it means that there is no opex manipulation going on and the buying is for real until now helping market makers to approach max pain at the close without overdoing it with HFT.
They still have a lot of fire power available if they need to launch the programs later in any direction.
