The market had a mostly solid session today. The major averages opened higher but mostly worked their way slightly lower from there. Late strength came in and all the major averages finished high in their intraday trading ranges. The NASD averages lagged a bit with the COMPQ and the NDX gaining .07% and .23% respectively. The SPX rallied .24%. Volume was higher across the board. Leading stocks were about flat on the day. The leaders index was off by only .02% on slightly lower volume. The index closed in the upper half of its trading range. The market had a mostly quiet to slightly negative session going today until late strength saw the major averages close strong. The SPX and the NDX made new closing highs today. The COMPQ is still a little below old highs. It is encouraging to see this action ,but the highs were not clear and convincing breakouts. We are still waiting for clear and convincing action into new highs to likely signal a move higher. Right now the market is acting well, but we may see some backing and filling before a clear break to new highs, if it comes. NVDA reports next week, maybe that will give the market a boost. Jerry
