The market put in a quiet session yesterday in closing out a positive week. The major averages opened higher but diverged after that. The NASD averages were the strongest and closed high in their intraday trading ranges. The New York averages finished low in their trading ranges. The COMPQ and the NDX gained .41% and .38% respectively. The SPX was flat with a .01% decline. Volume was lower across the board. Leading stocks had a good session. The leaders index was higher by 1.94% on the day. The index closed high in its trading range on lower and slightly below average volume. The market had a mildly positive session yesterday. The NASD averages did pretty well while the leading stocks had a strong session. The major averages are sitting right below the highs of their current consolidation zones. A break above the consolidations with some conviction would be a very positive sign. The fact that quality growth stocks are acting well is also an encouraging sign. The market is acting pretty well right now and looks like it wants to go higher. Jerry
