The market had a pretty good session today. The major averages opened higher and after bouncing around much of the day closed pretty well. All the major averages finished in the upper half of their intraday trading ranges. The COMPQ and the NDX gained .25% and .45% respectively. The SPX rallied .53%. Volume was higher across the board. Leading stocks were strong again today. The leaders index gained 2.45% on the day. The index closed in the upper half of its trading range on higher and slightly below average volume. The market had an overall solid session today, but yesterday’s earnings reports didn’t light any fires. After a late sell off on tariff news the major averages recovered and closed near their highs. Volume was also higher on the day. The futures are slightly higher as of this writing after AAPL’s earnings were ok but no blow out. Right now the market is trying to recover from Monday’s selloff and has regained much of the loss. Maybe the most positive thing now is the outperformance of leading stocks. The market usually doesn’t get into a lot of trouble when quality growth stocks are outperforming. The market looks like it is going fairly well right now as it tries to recover this week’s early losses. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of strength in recent trading, but the trend remains up. Jerry
