The market put in a quiet session today. The major averages opened a bit higher and then traded around unchanged the rest of the day. All the major averages closed pretty much unchanged. The COMPQ and the NDX fell .09% and .07% respectively while the SPX lost .02%. The New York averages closed high in their intraday trading ranges while the NASD averages finished low in their trading ranges. Volume was also mixed, higher on the New York and lower on the NASD. Leading stocks were generally lower on the day with the leaders index falling 2.48%. The index closed low in its trading range on lower but above average volume. The market mostly treaded water today as it awaits the important employment report out tomorrow morning. The market held on to yesterday’s gains in a pretty constructive fashion. The rally is intact and is acting ok at the moment, despite the fact that it is not lighting many fires. The employment report tomorrow morning will set the tone for trading. There will be no update tomorrow. Jerry
